Images attracts reader eyes quickly than paragraphs, that is why many bloggers opt to give much concentration in putting images. Today, I'm going to discuss about how name of the image can put great search engine value to your images. We'll discuss about alt and title tag also. According to new style of
Google image search with Metadata its important to optimize your images to gain more traffic from search engine.
Some times your download images have odd names that don't make sense. If you are uploading an image having a alpha-numeric name rather than useful text, than even if you add alt and title tag to it, you are hanging your blog's ranking. Didn't understand? Let me share.
Optimize Your Blog Images Before Uploading
For example I downloaded a baby wallpaper 2013 with the help of Google image search and now I want to share it with everyone by uploading on my blog. The name of the image is something like picture89.jpg, after uploading it will have its on image link as shown below:
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrpIdXNoPzmOIqxr8Z6s1CNR9JhOd2kLMLBEr0UXvY64VxFVrFdb1vN5vFhqwQ7CVuaKklOqijMZKgBdQKbvrjm9AnSXax68Lpy9n0FPh7uJWxOqBTGXjUSdJ2KdBQIAoDCTTOSjNXvcER/s1600/picture89.jpg
Remember Notes: This article and examples for blogger blogs, but same condition applies to self hosted blogs and websites too.
Ending point of this image is picture89.jpg. This part is also most important. When user searches for baby wallpaper 2013, Google finds most relevant images and provides the better results. Since your image ends as picture89.jpg rather baby-wallpaper-2013.jpg, you are indeed in no way close to be selected and show in search results page because your image description says picture89.jpg rather baby-wallpaper-2013.

Tips For An Optimized Image Ending Point
Here are some useful tips that may help you to optimize your images in the proper way before uploading. With right click your image rename it but remember following tips in mind:
- Try to use short names for your image. 3-4 letters are best for your image name.
- Use only best keyword and do not use connecting words like "are, with, for, yet, so, also, if etc".
- Do not tag images with useless words. If the image related to an installation process step for example WordPress self hosted blog. Then instead of writing as "Cpanel Settings" or "Next Step" rename it with a rich keyword like "wordpress installation" or "wp-self-hosted-blog"
- Avoid use of special characters like !, *, ~, @,`, ^, / etc.
Hope this short tutorial proves helpful for all of you. Happy Blogging, Stay Blessed :)
