Top 10 Android Apps
There are a lot of iPhone apps available now, but we can not say these words about Android apps. Android is the fastest growing mobile phone operating system in the world today .Android platform is free for phone manufacturers to use, unlike Apple iOS and the BlackBerry platform which only work on phones built by Apple and Rim respectively. So, there are some top 10 android applications which are necessary for android device.

1) Touchdown Mail Client – Let’s face it – your tablet is an extension of your desktop computer and smartphone and the number one use on all those devices is email. If you use an Exchange server and you need to be able to stay in sync with your work calendar and email, you have choices, especially if you use an Android-based phone. You can use the built-in Exchange support and use the Android mail client and calendar widget; or, you could give NitroDesk’s TouchDown Exchange client a try. This Android client for Exchange is an outstanding tool for staying in sync with your Exchange data. Instead of having to check more than one application (or widget), you can go to one simple to use application to stay up to date. If you are a big fan of the home screen widget, TouchDown has you covered as well with a widget for email and calendar. But is this client the right Android-based Exchange client for you? Let’s take a look and see.

2) Skype for Android – Skype is a free download and works great on Android. Skype for Android lets you do more with your phone; IM, voice and video call anyone in your contact list for free¹, right from your phone. And now, with the latest version, you can share the moment by sending photos and videos for free².

3) Hootsuite – Enhance your social media management with HootSuite, the leading social media dashboard. Manage multiple networks and profiles and measure your campaign results.. Very Convenient and free.

4) Dropbox – Need access to all your files and use DropBox for your cloud storage? The android app works perfectly and keeps precious device memory usage at a minimum.

5) Juice Defender Ultimate – That big display your smartphone has eats up battery life in a big way. So does WiFi, Bluetooth, Angry Birds…..well you get the idea. Juice Defender runs in the background and turns stuff on and off as needed. I have doubled my battery life with this little gem.

6) Yellow Pages for Android – The Yellow Pages aren’t dead, they have gone mobile! This is a great help when looking for businesses and it can use your phones GPS to find places close to you.

7) CIBC Banking App – I have been a CIBC customer for a long time and their award-winning online banking app is one of the best I have seen.

8) Kies Air – Want to connect to your Samsung smartphone from your PC? Kies Air is the app for you.

9) PayPal for Android – Get used to it – soon we will be using our smartphones for purchasing items at retail by using the built in Near Field communication chip that all new smartphones have. Tap and go…

10) Draw Something – I could do a Top 10 list of just games, but my favorite right now is Draw Something – an additive new game that is like a mobile version of Pictionary that you play with your friends that have the app on their device. You know what’s amazing? The game hit the Marketplace 2 month ago and has been downloaded over 35 million times already.

So there you have it - If you use an Android app not listed here and think its the best thing since sliced bread, please send it along to me and I will use it in my next Top 10 Post.
