Management is a set of functions directed at the efficient and effective utilization of resources in the pursuit of organizational goals.Management is the act of getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives using available resources efficiently and effectively.
Management Is An Art
It is an art as many managers in organizations are working on managerial positions though they have never acquired any specialized knowledge of management. Over a period of time they have learnt some skills to perform such jobs and sometimes it is said that
“A good manager is born and not made.”
But it has been now established and accepted that it is through learning and training process.
Management Is Also A Science
Science is a systematically organized body of knowledge. It is based on logically observed findings, facts and events. It comprises exact principle, the principles of science are capable and verification. Science tries to establish cause and effect relationship with regard to various phenomena and events.
Management As A Profession Too
It is a well-defined body of knowledge, which is learned intellectually and organizationally. In profession, examination or education restricts entry. It is primarily concerned with service to others. Here the arguments in favor of this statement like:
- Body of knowledge
- Formal methods of training
- Fee as remuneration
- Dressing sense
So, Management deal with all fields Art, Science and Profession.
